Sofya Uvaydov

Sofya distinguishes herself through her uncanny ability to spot nuanced and novel legal arguments in the most complex of cases, weaving together theories that most attorneys miss and leading to surprising victories.

Sofya handles litigation top-to-bottom, from initial answer through appeals in both state and federal courts.  With a decade of practice under her belt, including her time in the Litigation Bureau at the Office of the New York State Attorney General, Sofya offers clients unparalleled expertise as appellate and litigation strategy counsel. She has been involved in industry-shaking large litigations including a series of coordinated cases following a catastrophic crane collapse resulting in both a directed verdict at trial and appellate victory for her client.

Sofya’s experience as an assistant attorney general gives her unique and advantageous insight into discovery, depositions, and trials. She has frequently litigated 42 U.S.C. 1983 cases, including proposed class action lawsuits concerning medical treatment policies in New York state facilities and a multi-plaintiff coordinated action stemming from a fire in a government facility.  She also has represented employers in various employment law matters, including claims arising from Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Americans with Disabilities Act and retaliation.  These experiences have deepened and forged Sofya’s overall perspective, hardening her into an elite ally for those in need.

Aside from her appellate and litigation strategy work, Sofya handles employment litigation, civil rights and commercial disputes, often from inception. Sofya is adept at advising clients both in hotly-contested disputes and in avoiding litigation to save costs.
