Ameya Lele

A 2020 graduate of William & Mary Law School, Ameya Lele focuses his practice on insurance defense and labor and employment matters. His experience as a law clerk for New Jersey Superior Court Judge Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. armed him with the research and legal writing skills that contribute to his success today.  Preparing and drafting written orders and trial court decision, as well as reviewing and summarizing motion hearings and emergent applications, helped him to refine his skills, and his extensive docket taught him how to handle multitasking and a rigorous workload.  As a law clerk, Ameya sat in on numerous trials, giving him a front seat to the inner workings of the court

 

Overview And Experience

As an intern for the Office of the Federal Public Defender – Eastern District of Virginia, Ameya assisted the defense team with federal misdemeanor trials and pretrial hearings. He researched and drafted memos on key issues related to the Fourth and Fifth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. In addition, he assisted with case management for disadvantaged clients.

While at William & Mary, Ameya served as a student advocate for the Parents Engaged for Learning Equality Clinic, an initiative designed to help families with disabled children gain the appropriate services to help the kids succeed in school.      

Ameya also worked abroad as a legal intern for International Bridges to Justice. The mission of the global nonprofit is to achieve basic legal rights for citizens of developing nations. He worked with inmates to make them aware of their legal rights, and prepared filings advocating for bail reform in the Delhi judicial system. In addition, he drafted presentations and reports used for attorney training and fundraising for the nonprofit.
